Evaluation Question 5
When I was presented with the task of his project I was eager to get started as I have a passion for filming and found the idea of making my own music video the perfect opportunity. I had a variety of ideas at the start and found it difficult to decide which song to choose as I knew I would do a combination of a live performance and narrative. Finally I decided to choose the song “My Kind of Love” by Emeli Sande as her music is full of emotion and meaning, the original video had an interesting narrative focussing on friendship and loyalty.
For my video I also wanted to represent friendship but with a twist, the meaning behind my version refers to being loyal to those you care the most about, being there for them no matter what. Within my narrative video the audience would assume the male and female models are a couple however they only talk no close interactions, if you want to represent a romantic couple you would have the two closer together, in my video the two have a bit of distance to show they are friends, listening to the lyrics the meaning of friendship and being loyal is almost acting as a voice over. However looking at my actress she shows signs of wanting to be more than friends as represented in the lyrics “you will feel my kind of love”.
Overall I am pleased with my music video and have learned new techniques through the variety of technologies which I have used, such as Adobe Premier I learned more about this software placing tags to pin-point the beat, editing my footage such as enhancing the colour or brightness. I have also learned through Adobe Photoshop how to cut out an image smoothly with the tool of colour range, this technique allowed me to have a clearer photo.
Diary Entry 29
I have completed question two with the use of Slideshare Powerpoint allowed me to separate each section. Question four was completed with Prezi as there were many sections to cover I believed Prezi was the best option. For question five I will do a blog video summerising the whole video making experience.
Evaluation Question 3
I have decided to use Blogger as a form of media to present my evaluation reponce to question three, looking back at my target audience, stating what I have learned through my feedback and how I recieved my feedback.
What have you learned from your audience feedback?
When planning my music video I thought about my target audience, with the themes I was going to explore, my target audience had to be at a mature age near adulthood. I decided to aim towards teenagers to begin with but this idea changed as this was not specific, I decided the more appropriate age for my target audience would be 16-26 years old. As I believe they will be able to understand the emotional aspects within my video, such as the live performance of my model, you can see a variety of emotion as she sings making the song personal along side with the narrative the audience will see the emotion she is portraying. Also I find the emotion found in the lyrics will be picked up by my target audience as they would be able to relate to how the performer is feeling or they can imagine being in her position.
I believe 16-26 year olds will understand my music video more and the theme represented throughout. Another reason why this is an appropriate age range is the level of independence, going out to various locations with friends is more common at 16 while going into a busy place such as Central London shows more independence which 16 year olds strive towards, 18 year olds have this level of independence this is emphasized more as the individual grows and matures.
I received my audience feedback through the use of social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter I posted a link of my draft version of my music video onto Facebook, in order to get feedback from people in the age range of my target audience. This proved most effective as within minutes up uploading I received responses commenting on the composition of the image, the layout structure and an overall comment of the video but most of all feedback was mainly in regards to the lighting effects. Facebook proved most useful for my audience feedback in comparison to uploading the video onto Twitter, I was able to receive more views through Twitter but with little response, this could be due to Twitter’s word count which could explain why I received few pieces of feedback.
Looking over my audience feedback, suggestions were made in regards to a narrative to be added to strengthen the live performance and to put more emphasis on my meaning and the lyrics. I have responded to this feedback by adding a narrative which was filmed at a significant location in Central London, I have also taken into consideration the response by Sam Weight, to use more varied angles. With my narrative I have used more pans at different angles to focus on different areas of my performer and to capture the emotion she is showing.
Feedback is most important in the process of constructing a music video, you are able to get another person’s opinion who does not know as much about the video as the person creating it. Receiving feedback from people in my target audience allowed me to see if the video appeals to their interests and if not I would be able to make improvements. Overall I found audience feedback most useful for my music video as I was able to make improvements to where it was needed, making my video and meaning of my music video stronger.

Diary Entry 28
I am currently working on my evaluation so far I have answered question one and question three, I will use a variety of medias for each section. For question one I have used Prezi to assist in breaking the evaluation into three sections, while question three was uploaded stright onto Blogger to show Blogger is a form of media this way I can cover all areas of technologies.
Final Music Video
After receiving aditional audience feedback I decided to make alterations to my music video, this is now my final version and I am more pleased with the result. I have added a clear narrative depicting the relationship between the couple while still relating to the lyrics, furthermore this new version still relates to my previous ideas and I find the audience will be able to understand the narrative more and relate to it.
I have made alterations to my performers outfit by removing the purple coat and instead wears a black coat as I find the audience will be able to recognize her more through each shot going between the live performance and the narrative. I also found in my second draft the narrative was not as clear, I felt there were not many filler shots showing why the couple have an argument also the reason behind their break up. In addition I am pleased with the dramatic end as the couple argue as you can almost read their lips and recognizing what they are saying to each other, I find these shots build up the climax of the song till we see him walk away and the female is left alone in the narrative and in the live performance almost mirroring each other.
